Insurance Verification

Yapi Leap's insurance verification features lets you check a patient's insurance eligibility with just a couple clicks - or you can set up automation and Leap will check for you! You can easily see a patient's status right on your homepage by checking out the insurance eligibility icon next to their name and even view more detail in the Patient Eligibility and Benefits Report on their Patient Profile.

Important

Insurance Verification is an add-on feature that comes standard with 500 eligibility checks per month (and you'll be notified in-app if you reach 500). If you'd like to add Insurance Verification on to your Yapi plan or add more eligibility checks, contact our Sales team External link..

Insurance Verification Overview

To view and check a patient's insurance eligibility from the homepage, click their name on your schedule.

Status Icons

These icons indicate each patient's insurance eligibility status:

  • Insurance eligibility confirmed icon. - Insurance eligibility verified

  • Insurance not eligible icon. - Patient is not eligible with the insurance on file. Contact the patient to get updated insurance information.

  • Insurance eligibility not checked icon. - Insurance eligibility hasn't been checked yet

  • Insurance eligibility unknown icon. - Insurance unknown. Leap can't check insurance eligibility for this plan. Contact the insurance company directly to check eligibility.

  • Insurance eligibility error icon. - Error. This could mean that you haven't yet entered your NPI and Tax ID on your Practice Information page or that the insurance information you have for the patient in Eaglesoft doesn't match their insurance provider's records.

Eligibility Status

In a patient's Appointment Details, their Eligibility Status is listed under each insurance they have on file:

  • Eligible - This patient's insurance eligibility has been verified.

  • Not Eligible - This patient is not eligible with the insurance on file. Contact the patient to see if they have updated insurance information.

  • Not Checked - This patient's insurance eligibility hasn't been checked yet. Click the Check Status button to check it. Or if you have automation set up, Leap will automatically check for you on the interval you've chosen in your Insurance Verification settings.

  • Unknown - Insurance unknown. Leap can't check insurance eligibility for this plan because it isn't one of the payers we check eligibility for. Contact the insurance company directly to check eligibility.

  • Error - There was an error in checking insurance eligibility.

You can manually update a patient's eligibility status by clicking the down arrow Down arrow icon. next to their current status.

Check Status Button

Click this button next to a patient's insurance provider to check their eligibility.

To check a patient's insurance eligibility on the Insurance tab of their Patient Profile and view their Patient Eligibility & Benefits Report , search for them in the Patient Finder, click their name, and click the Insurance tab.

Eligibility Status

On a patient's Profile page, their Eligibility Status is listed under each insurance they have on file:

  • Eligible - This patient's insurance eligibility has been verified.

  • Not Eligible - This patient is not eligible with the insurance on file. Contact the patient to see if they have updated insurance information.

  • Not Checked - This patient's insurance eligibility hasn't been checked yet. Click the Check Status button to check it. Or if you have automation set up, Leap will automatically check for you on the interval you've chosen in your Insurance Verification settings.

  • Unknown - Insurance unknown. Leap can't check insurance eligibility for this plan because it isn't one of the payers we check eligibility for. Contact the insurance company directly to check eligibility.

  • Error - There was an error in checking insurance eligibility.

Last Updated

The last date that the patient's insurance eligibility status was checked.

Check Status Button

Click this button to check a patient's eligibility for the selected insurance.

Patient Eligibility and Benefits Report

This report shows a patient's deductibles, maximums, coinsurance, frequencies and limitations of what's covered, and what's not covered in their plan.

Leap shows this information as it is given to us by the insurance provider. You can check what level of detail is available for each payer on our List of Insurance Providers.

To get to Insurance Verification Settings, click Settings > Practice Settings > Insurance Verification.

Only users with Admin privileges can access this page.

Enable Automation

Slide this toggle to the right (orange) if you want Leap to automatically check each patient's insurance eligibility a set number of days before their appointment.

Two.

Number of Days

Here, you can select the number of days prior to an appointment that you want Leap to check a patient's insurance eligibility. This is set to 2 days by default.

Some Things You Should Know About Insurance Verification

  • If a patient doesn't have any insurance information entered in Eaglesoft:

    • They won't have an insurance verification status icon next to their name on the homepage.

    • Eligibility statuses and Check Status buttons won't appear in the patient's Appointment Details window when you click their name on the homepage.

    • The Patient Eligibility and Benefits Report as well as Eligibility statuses and the Check Status button won't appear in the Insurance tab patient's Profile page.

  • Insurance providers don't currently provide any fee schedule information.
