Setting Patient Communication Preferences
By default, direct messages & mass texts are enabled in Yapi Leap. If you have a patient that doesn't want to receive texts from your office, though, you can change their settings using the instructions below.
Important
This only edits a patient's communication preferences in Yapi Leap and doesn't update communication preferences in Eaglesoft or features outside of Leap like the Yapi Classic Dashboard and Yapi Classic appointment reminders.
Note
These options don't affect appointment or recall reminder texts. If a patient wants to opt out of all texts (including reminders), they need to opt themselves out using the steps in How Patients Can Opt Themselves Out of Texting. You can't do this on the patient's behalf.
Search for a patient in the Patient Finder and click to open their Profile page.
Click the Preferences button in the upper right on the patient's Profile page.
When the Edit Preferences page opens, select the Communication tab to see the patient's current preferences.
Review each of the communication types listed and make the necessary changes. Patients are automatically set to receive direct messages & mass texts.
Opting in - You'll know the patient is opted in if the slider is set to the right and is orange.
Opting out - Toggle the slider to the left (grey) to opt a patient out.
Note
For patients marked as needing to premedicate in Eaglesoft, Yapi automatically enables the Ask to premedicate field. If a patient no longer needs to premedicate, make the change directly in Eaglesoft.
Click Save Communication Preferences.
Important
If a patient opts out of receiving texts from their phone, using the instructions above won't opt the patient back in. They'll need to find the text thread on their phone and reply unstop or start to opt back in to receiving texts.
