Adding a Desktop/Laptop Device for Forms
If you've set up an office computer kiosk or laptop for patients to fill out forms, you need to add it in Yapi Leap as a device so patients can access their forms on it. For instructions to get your device connected, start by clicking on the type of computer you want to link below.
Note
These steps are only needed for practice-owned computers that are dedicated for patient use. You don't need to complete these steps for staff workstations or personal patient computers. If a patient wants to complete their forms on their own personal device, just email or text them the forms instead!
Also, instructions for programs outside of Yapi Leap (like browser or device settings) may vary slightly as Apple, Microsoft, and Android make changes over time. Yapi has included instructions for making changes in these programs as a courtesy. If you have any problems with setup, your office's IT representative should be able to help you out.
Select the internet browser you use on this device.
Let's get your device set up to use forms!
First, you'll need to disable bookmark syncing on your device:
Important
Why is this important? When you link a device for forms (which you'll do in Step 4 below), Leap creates a URL for that specific device. If you have bookmark syncing enabled in your web browser, it can sync that link to other devices, causing the link to fail (and we don't want that!). Disabling bookmark syncing prevents this.
Open Chrome on your device.
Click the three-dot icon in the top right corner of the screen and select Settings.
Select Sync and Google services.
Click Manage what you sync.
Select Customize sync.
Slide the Bookmarks toggle to the left to disable it. You'll know it's disabled once the toggle turns grey.
Next, disable cookie blocking on your device:
Still in Chrome, select Privacy and security from the navigation panel on the left.
Select Third-party cookies from the list.
Select Allow third-party cookies.
Now enable cross-site tracking:
On the same screen in Chrome (Third-party cookies), scroll down to the Advanced section.
Toggle Send a "Do not track" request with your browsing traffic to the left so it's grey.
Now link your device in Leap:
Important
Only users with Admin privileges can perform this task.
Log into Yapi Leap on the computer you'd like patients to use to complete their forms.
Click Settings from the menu on the left and select Practice Settings.
Click Forms Library and Editor.
Click General Settings.
On the General Settings page, click Edit Configurations under In Office Devices.
Click +Device.
Enter a unique name for the device. Use a name that's descriptive enough to remember, especially if you use more than one device in your office (like Front Office 1, Back Office 2, or Treatment Coordinator). Then click Accept.
Find the device listed on the page and click Link Device next to it.
Click Copy URL to Clipboard.
Open a new web browser tab and paste the link you copied into the address bar, then hit Enter. You'll then see a confirmation message letting you know the device is ready to use.
Very important: Bookmark the page before closing it. This is the page you'll see patient forms on once you assign them in Leap. For each device you link, the page address is unique, so you definitely don't want to lose this page!
To bookmark the page, highlight the entire address in the address bar of your browser and drag the address onto your desktop. You'll see a browser shortcut with the name Yapi.
Your device is now ready to use and you can assign forms to it from Leap! 🎉 To make sure your Leap forms experience runs smoothly, make a habit of closing the bookmarked page on your device at the end of each work day and reopening it again every morning.
