Emailing a Patient

Need to email a patient? Click one of the links below to learn how.

Use the instructions below to email a patient from the homepage.

  1. From the Leap homepage, select the patient's appointment date from the date picker at the top or, if the patient's appointment is today, click Today.

  2. Find the patient whose appointment you're looking for. If you're on today's schedule, you may need to navigate to the In Office or Checked Out tabs to find them.

  3. Click the 3-dot icon 3-dot icon. for the patient you want to email (at the end of their row).

  4. Select Email patient.

  5. Click Email Subject and enter a subject line for the email.

    Tip

    Since patients receive a lot of emails, we recommend making your subject line descriptive so patients are more likely to open it. For example, instead of "Just checking in," try something more detailed like "Post Root Canal Check-In."

  6. Optional: If you'd like to CC or BCC anyone else in the communication, type their email address into the CC or BCC lines. For example, you might CC a patient's caregiver or a second parent.

  7. In the Email Body box, type in the message you want to send to the patient.

  8. Optional: Use the toolbar at the top of the Email Body box to format any part of the message.

  9. Click Send Now.

To send your patient an email from their Profile page, follow the steps below.

  1. From the patient's Profile page, select the Email tab.

  2. Click the Compose button Compose button. to open the Send an Email page.

  3. Click Email Subject and enter a subject line for the email.

    Tip

    Since patients receive a lot of emails, we recommend making your subject line descriptive so patients are more likely to open it. For example, instead of "Just checking in," try something more detailed like "Post Root Canal Check-In".

  4. Optional: If you'd like to CC or BCC anyone else in the communication, type their email address into the CC or BCC lines. For example, you might CC a patient's caregiver or a second parent.

  5. In the Email Body box, type in the message you want to send to the patient.

  6. Optional: Use the toolbar at the top of the Email Body box to format any part of the message.

  7. Click Send Now.

To quickly email a patient directly from your search results in the Patient Finder, follow the instructions below.

  1. On the Patient Finder page, search for your patient. In your search results, click on the 3-dot icon 3-dot icon. for the patient you want to text (at the end of their row).

  2. Select Send email. This opens the Send an Email page.

  3. Click Email Subject and enter a subject line for the email.
