Checking Insurance Eligibility

Normally checking a patient's insurance eligibility is a p-a-i-n 😱, but with Leap's insurance verification feature, it's simple! No more spending hours on the phone calling to check eligibility. Click a link below to learn more.

Important

Insurance Verification is an add-on feature that comes standard with 500 eligibility checks per month (and you'll be notified in-app if you reach 500). If you'd like to add Insurance Verification on to your Yapi plan or add more eligibility checks, contact our Sales team External link..

If you've added Insurance Verification to your Yapi plan, you can easily check a patient's insurance eligibility right from the Leap homepage! Just follow the steps below.

Tip

Did you know? If a payer's ID, patient's DOB, first/last name or DOB, or subscriber ID is missing from Eaglesoft when you check the patient's insurance eligibility, the check won't count towards your monthly Leap insurance eligibility checks.

  1. On the homepage, click the date at the top of the page and select the date your patient is scheduled for. Or, if the appointment is today, click Today.

  2. If you're on today's schedule, you may need to navigate between the Scheduled, In Office and Checked Out tabs to find the patient's appointment.

  3. Click the patient's name.

  4. Next to the patient's insurance name, click Check Status.

  5. Under the patient's insurance name, you'll see a status appear, along with today's date (so your team can easily see when the patient's insurance was last checked):

    • Eligible - This patient's insurance eligibility has been verified.

    • Not Eligible - This patient is not eligible with the insurance on file. Contact the patient to see if they have updated insurance information.

    • Unknown - Insurance unknown. Leap can't check insurance eligibility for this plan because it isn't one of the payers we check eligibility for. Contact the insurance company directly to check eligibility.

    • Error - There was an error in checking insurance eligibility.
